GUANG-YU ZHANG

Artist Guang-Yu Zhang produces intricate vivid multi-hued paintings and photographs that take inspiration from his homeland. He inlays a Western twist of pop culture into his works of art, blurring the mythical realm boundaries of reality. Exotic birds gaze across vibrant backgrounds, exploring rich vegetation and soft diffusions of bright hues. 
 
Recognized as a raising emerging artist to watch out for, Guang-Yu Zhang was a finalist in the ArtGemini Prize exhibition in 2013 and was selected for the international emerging artists exhibition “Continental Shift” at the Saatchi Gallery in 2014. His works are displayed the digital wall installation at Tate Museum. 
 
Guang-Yu Zhang is currently based in Shanghai, China. He first studied fine art at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China, and in 2012 received his BFA from Central Saint Martin’s College of Arts and Design in London.
