NICOLA MCCARTNEY

The oil paintings of Nicola McCartney combine the absurd and the familiar with a dream-like aesthetic. Both dark and yet somehow comical, her artworks feature young women or animals as she explores her interest in the narratives between girl and animal in traditional fairy-tales.

Widely exhibited around the UK including several public art commissions for local councils in Sheffield and Harlow, Nicola McCartney has been names the winner of The Life With Art Award, in association with the Myathenia Gravis Association, and The Slade School of Fine Art Project Award. Named by renowned critic Sarah Kent as a featured artist in ’10 Ways to Start Collecting Art’ for Time Out magazine, Nicola McCartney has been signalled out on numerous occasions as an artist to watch and invest in.
