ROTTEN YOUTH
The life and films of Harmony Korine
by KOD Staff
Youth isn’t innocent, so says Harmony Korine. Writer of cult movie ‘Kids’, Korine is the kind of filmmaker Werner Herzog admires. A divisive figure: he has been heralded by some as the voice of our generation, but others can’t watch the first scene of ‘Gummo’ – where a cat is drowned in a barrel.
Whatever his faults, Korine is an artist with a distinct aesthetic. From bunny boy playing dead to Selena Gomez taking part in masked armed robbery – Korine specializes in youth gone rotten.
