Style icons and their legendary eyeglasses

From John Lennon to Peggy Guggenheim to Iris Apfel, eyeglasses have long been incorporated by celebrities into their iconic image, in some cases becoming their defining feature.
Many style icons are as famous as their eye wear, their glasses become fused with their persona, establishing a direct association. Eye wear has been adopted as signature style and brand, a statement of individuality that is sometimes more recognised than their clothes. Picture Iris Apfel, an eccentric style guru who dresses to impress. However, the image that comes to mind is of the signature, oversized glasses that dominate her look.
